Pioneering Nursing’s Future: Excellence through Diversity
is a TWU College
of Nursing program designed to increase the diversity of
the nursing profession. Due to significant under-representation of
Hispanics in nursing, PNF targets disadvantaged Latino
youth, pre-nursing and nursing students. The program helps
disadvantaged Latino students to enter and excel in nursing school.
Currently, the PNF program is not accepting any new applications while
the program is restructured.
Through a partnership with the DFW Area Health Education Center (DFW AHEC)
and other community partners, activities are carried out to increase
awareness of the nursing profession among Hispanics in Dallas and Tarrant
counties, provide support for TWU pre-nursing students, and provide
scholarships and mentorship opportunities for Latino nursing students.
For more information, please call the DFW AHEC at 214-648-8334 or the
TWU College of Nursing at
214-689-6510.
